I’m really trying to understand here why people are so surprised at this ruling that Comcast has the right to charge extra for different web services. Let’s look at some other services we all use real quick that are restricted that no one seems to even notice:

1. TV: You can’t access all television channels for free and all of them are priced differently. local channels are free, MTV, for example, is included with most “Basic” packages, and HBO is sold, usually, separately. Is anyone fighting this; of course not. This isn’t very “Station Neutral” now is it?

2 . Cellular Service: Not all calls are created equal. Some providers allow you to call any cellular device for free, some let you call cellular phones under the same provider free, and some you pay per min no matter who you are calling. They are all different, and none are neutral. Lets not even get into calling international numbers…

3. Google: They omit searches, and this is on the web! Google omits web sites for various reasons, sites known for spy/adware, black hat SEO tactics, etc. Now, that for sure is not very neutral. Google must be evil, aye?

So, what do they all have in common? They all are private businesses, and they all have (in the U.S.) the right to restrict and charge for their services as they see fit. We live in the U.S. and unfortunately we are a capitalist-republic society and this means that Comcast, Google, Dish Network, and whoever else, has any and all the right to moderate their own services.

Net Neutrality can’t exist while the internet is being provided by private businesses in a capitalist society.

If you want to change it, go out and cancel your service and send them a letter why you’ve canceled. If all the providers start to do it then we as the people need to step up and tell the businesses to fuck off, but all you’re doing by complaining about it and sending them a monthly paycheck for their service is only fueling the fire (and their lawyers).

Now please, quit acting surprised that in America you as a businesses can restrict your service in anyway you see fit. Because, I mean, how else is America going to remain greedy and corrupt?
